Mendenhall Glacier is located 12 miles or nineteen kilometers from Juneau, the capital city of Alaska. The famous glacier and the ice caves are located in Mendenhall Valley. The glacier is about 13.6 miles (21.9 kilometers) long and is federally protected, along with the surrounding landscape, as part of the Tongass National Forest.

Grand Prismatic is the largest hot spring in the United States and is situated in the state of Wyoming. Located in Yellowstone National Park, Grand Prismatic Spring is considered by many travelers to be the jewel in the crown of geothermal attractions at the park and in continental North America. It is the third largest hot spring in the world, after Frying Pan Lake in New Zealand and Boiling Lake in Dominica.
